The flag of Asturias is a sky-blue field with a golden Victory Cross shifted toward the hoist, with Alpha and Omega hanging from the crossarms.
The flag of Asturias features the Victory Cross, a symbol traditionally associated with Pelagius and the Battle of Covadonga in 722. The cross itself was commissioned in 908 by King Alfonso III and later became a regional emblem. The flag first appeared as a naval ensign in 1785, was revived during the 1808 French invasion with the slogan “Asturias nunca vencida,” and its current official design and 2:3 proportions were formalised on 19 December 1990. The blue field is associated with the Asturian sky, while the Alpha and Omega signify the beginning and the end.
